Grand Opera House
A performing arts center of Mercer University, The Grand Opera House was built in 1884 with the largest stage east of the Mississippi River. Saved from the wrecking ball in the 1970s, the Macon, Georgia, theater has undergone major renovation twice since then. Its opulent 1,000-seat audience was designed so that every ticket holder has a good seat and it remains the premier performing arts venue in Central Georgia. The Grand brings the very best in live, professional performing arts and entertainment to the stage through its highly popular Broadway Series of nationally touring productions from New York and around the world, as well as a variety of special events throughout the year.
