    Lights on Macon

A 1988 study suggested Macon “put a fence around the InTown historic neighborhood and charge admission. Or better yet, show it off with free nightly programming!” Thus Lights on Macon, An Illuminated Walking Tour, was born. With an active and hospitable neighborhood association, InTown was perfectly suited for the idea of a nightly illumination tour that would provide something to do every night of the year. Some 60 architecturally significant houses and structures including stately trees, inviting gazebos and even an antebellum brick wall) are highlighted on the tour, which takes anywhere from 30 minutes to two hours, depending on an individual’s pace. Architectural styles, a brief history of Macon and a free downloadable map and tour guide are conveniently posted on the association’s website.
