Rose Hill Cemetery
A fine example of 19th century cemetery parks, Rose Hill enthralls cemetery enthusiasts and photographers from around the world with its rolling landscape and terraced slopes, magnificent marble monuments and hillside crypts. A favorite hang out of the Allman Brothers Band when they formed, recorded and lived in Macon from 1969 until the mid-1970s, it is where Duane Allman and Berry Oakley, as well as 600 Civil War dead and many historically prominent Macon citizens are buried. Popular annual events include Rose Hill Rambles, guided and narrated tours hosted in spring and the Sunday before Halloween.
