Macon, Georgia, is an artist’s playground with its array of architecture, people, beauty and cultural diversity. Naturally, galleries and working studios abound in downtown historic buildings. The Gallery at Macon Arts Alliance crowns them all, perched at the top of Cotton Avenue in the historic 1885 Macon Volunteers Armory. More than 100 artists from throughout the state exhibit in a variety of media from paintings to pottery and from photography to jewelry in the front gallery. Featured exhibits are displayed in the central gallery, rotating each month with free opening receptions the First Friday of every month. All work is for sale and there’s never any charge to browse and enjoy.
