Cherry Blossom Festival
What city has the most flowering cherry trees in the world? Macon, Georgia! Thanks to one man's generosity, the city boasts of more than 300,000 Yoshino cherry trees. To celebrate their magnificent blooming, Macon hosts 10 days filled with hundreds of events, concerts and tours through the city's most resplendent neighborhoods in what has been recognized officially in the Congressional Record as The Cherry Blossom Capital of the World. Residents hang pink wreaths on doors, don pink bows on mailboxes and paint blossoms on car windshields, while downtown’s Cherry Street sports a pink stripe down its center line and everyone --- from businessmen to poodles --- wears pink!
