Collegiate
The competitive spirit is alive and well on campus. Community colleges and local universities are getting into the game and athletic programs are expanding. Football, basketball, baseball, softball, tennis and equestrian sports offer players and fans diverse opportunities to compete, some in NCAA Division 1 athletics.
Mercer University
After a 70-year absence. The University’s Board of Trustees today unanimously approved a plan to resume competition in football in the fall of 2013. Mercer currently fields 15 men’s and women’s sports and is the only private university in Georgia to compete in NCAA Division I athletics.

Macon State
JP Mitchell started the Macon State Baseball Club in 2009. It was the first Club Sport at Macon State and had a successful inaugural season. Now, 7 club sports later, Macon State has a rich and thriving sports community with more to come.

Central Georgia Technical College
CGTC is proud to have an intercollegiate athletics program that features men's and women's basketball. The Cougars are members of the Division I National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA).

Wesleyan College
Wesleyan offers competition in five NCAA sports: soccer, basketball, cross country, tennis, and softball. The equestrians compete in Intercollegiate Horse Show Association(IHSA) and Affiliated National Riding Commission (ANRC) events. In NCAA Division III competition, the Wesleyan Pioneers regularly win All-Conference and All-Academic honors. On the hard court, the Pioneers have been national leaders in both three-point and individual scoring. And in the saddle, they’ve had two national champions in dressage and western events in recent years.

Georgia College & State University
While GCSU’s graduate program is in Macon, and the sports that GCSU supports is played in Milledgeville, there is still a plethora of award winning sports activities that would delight sports fan and attract athletes of note.
