Great Things Are On The Way At Amerson River Park

Macon-Bibb County commissioners have voted to accept a $92,000 grant from the Federal Recreation Trails Program that will be used to extend the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail.  Macon-Bibb County, NewTown Macon, and the Macon Water Authority are working together to connect the southern part of the Park with the section of Ocmulgee Heritage Trail that runs through Riverside Cemetery.  The ultimate goal is to have it connected to the portion of the Trail on the east side of the River and the Ocmulgee National Monument

Macon+Bibb County has begun the work of connecting the Overlook to the canoe launch with a new trail.  Here's a recent video from the Friends of Amerson River Park showing the path the trail will take through the woods and along the Ocmulgee River.
