Behind the Counter with Gateway Macon
Behind the Counter is a series brought to you by the Gatekeepers of Gateway Macon. Every month a Gatekeeper will go behind the scenes of a local business, offering the community personal insight into its local business leaders and contributors. Enjoy the ride!
Looking for a little star treatment and a new do? Then look no further than Signature Salon. Southern hospitality mixed with contemporary, fresh décor, Signature Salon offers an experience, not just a service.
Sitting down with Nichole Brewer, the owner of Signature Salon, and Rachel Bunn, the salon manager, it is easy to see their passion for not only their business, but hair!
Signature Salon will be celebrating their 8th anniversary in October. While a rather young company, the knowledge spoken from Nichole and Rachel tells a story of entrepreneurs with wisdom beyond their years.
When asked about her company Nichole speaks very confidently about her business model. Based on a structured commission-based system, Signature Salon promotes stylists based on achievement of education and experience goals rather than booth rent. Nichole’s main focus is to not only cultivate amazing hair stylists, but phenomenal career women.
If there is one thing that stands out about Signature Salon, it is the leadership’s emphasis on stylists being educated and up-to-date on all the new trends of hair care. Redken, one of Signature Salon’s premier hair care lines, offers top-tier educational sessions, bi-weekly classes for product knowledge and national conference opportunities, all of which Signature Salon participates. This year, the entire staff will be traveling to Las Vegas for Redken’s largest hair event! At Signature Salon, you can be sure that you are not simply encountering hair stylists, but hair care professionals.
Speaking with Nichole and Rachel on the second level of the salon, you can’t help but feel the positive, refreshing vibes radiating through the salon. It is easy to see Signature Salon has found the right recipe for success. When asked how they would describe the business in three words, “hospitable, refreshing and professional” were some of the first words to come to mind. Their team-oriented culture, bright smiles, inspiring story and love for hair and education puts them in a league of their own.
Dedicated to her roots, Nichole spoke about her love for Macon, “I was born and raised here. I love Macon. I am proud to be a business owner in Macon”. Nichole was more than excited to announce that the salon will be expanding to Downtown Macon later this summer.
Whether they’re having a monthly staff dance-off, traveling to educational seminars, cracking open fortune cookie coupons in the lobby or counseling a client on trying a new hairstyle, Signature Salon has the leadership, culture and it-factor to be successful for years to come. Don’t miss out on the fun!
