Actor Andrew McCarthy Kicks of the Macon Film Festival This Thursday

2016 Macon Film Festival

It’s been 30 years since the release of John Hughes’ Pretty in Pink, and Andrew McCarthy rolls into Macon on Thursday to kick off the 11th annual Macon Film Festival with a special screening and Q&A of the movie.

McCarthy starred in several ‘80s movies featuring a group of actors that together are known as the “Brat Pack.”  McCarthy made his professional début at 19 in Class, and has appeared in dozens of films, including such iconic movies as St. Elmo’s Fire, Less Then Zero, and cult favorites Weekend At Bernie’s and Mannequin.  The “Pretty in Pink” screening will be the first in the festival, which continues to grow, and includes more than 60 juried entries.

The Macon Film Festival  will have 61 films in competition, 5 spotlight films, 4 special screenings, 3 after parties, and 4 free workshops that will be held at 8 venues located within 3 walkable blocks in downtown Macon at this year's festival.

The Macon Film Festival is held annually in the heart of historic downtown Macon, Georgia's arts & culture center.
