The holiday season is in full swing in Central Georgia and we have got all the details you need to know to make sure you don't miss any of the holiday fun and excitement. WARNING: There is a LOT of things going on this weekend, so before you start reading make sure you are comfortable, it may take a little while to get through everything!!

Slide into Christmas

If popularity on Facebook is any indication if an event is worth attending then you won’t want to miss Christmas in the Corridor this Thursday in Mercer Village. This event has generated a ton of buzz on our social media channel and we expect a great turn out!  There will be plenty of activities for everyone to experience from live music by the Well Reds to a SNOW Slide, as well as great food and drink specials from each of our local Mercer Village restaurants. That's right, real snow will be on the ground at this event in the Corridor on December 4th, from 5-10 p.m.

Lights Over Macon

There is  no better way to get into the spirit of the holiday than to attend the lighting of Macon, Georgia's official Christmas tree also this Thursday evening at 6:30pm. This event takes place on the steps of the Macon City Auditorium.  The lights will be bright and the Bibb County 3rd Grade carolers will be singing traditional Christmas songs to help set the mood. This is a FREE event that’s a great way to get the whole family kick started for the Holidays. Afterward, take a stroll over to the new and improved second street to watch people try to back into a parking space! Or check out some of the fine downtown restaurants for a pizza family style.

Shrek Sing Along

Even more family fun can be had at Macon Little Theater when dancing ogres and donkeys take to the stage for a local performance of Shrek the Musical. This is sure to be one of the most entertaining theatrical performances of the year. Get your tickets in advance since the peak performance times might be sold out soon.

Sax+ Glass-Blowing +Pop-Ups = First Friday Fun

This is a First Friday weekend in Macon, Ga and that means plenty of activities downtown. We recommend Live music under the stars as Joe and Daniel Music serenade you with their soulful melodies at the Lanier Courtyard, located at 336 Second Street, in the alley. Or try mixing your art with beer at Just Tap'd on second street where they will be holding a pop-up art exhibition of two up and coming artists as well as selling cold craft beer. Is art better after you have had a few beers? Find out for yourself at First Friday! Maybe you want a hear a little holiday music performed on the sax? First Friday has that covered as well, Saxophonist, Damon L. Brown will perform a “Saxsational Christmas”. and invites you to experience the sweet sound of his jazzy Christmas interpretations. But wait! There is even more sights and sounds to experience downtown this Friday... There will be a live Glassblowing demonstration on the sidewalk in front of Macon Arts Alliance and a holiday arts &craft sale at the gallery. So, live music, art exhibition, cold beer, hot glass being blown and some saxy Christmas tunes! Now that is a first Friday to remember!

Christmas March

It can't be Christmas time in the South without an official Christmas parade through downtown. Of course, Macon has an awesome parade planned for you this Sunday at 3pm. There will be everything you have come to expect from a Christmas parade in the south, marching bands, guys with funny hats, politicians, beauty queens and bring up the rear will be Jolly old Saint Nick.

Holiday Awe

Another fine southern Christmas tradition is the annual tour of homes. This is where those of us who did not grow up in a home with doric columns on our front porch pay money see how people with those fancy columns doctorate the inside of their homes. The Tour features 11 beautiful homes on historic College, Bond, Orange, Georgia Avenue and Cherry Streets dressed in their best Holiday finery. This year's Christmas Candlelight Tour of Homes has a nice twist with a wine and cheese reception as part of the tour.

Hark! A Corner Concert!

Ok, for those who are fond of saying Bah Humbug to the holidays we have an awesome rock concert just for you! There should be a hint of Christmas in sight as Corner Concerts presents the third installment of the unique pop-up concert concept. This Corner Concert will be help at a very cool venue, the abandoned Shriner Temple downtown. The headliner band, New Madrid, is from Athens and they plan to rock that old Temple like a Shriner at a convention in Vegas! You can hear some of their streaming music in our Live music Calendar. Lest we remind you that no one in Macon has as advanced of a  music calendar like Gateway Macon, you can always compare the options for yourself.

O (not so) Silent Afternoon

Sit tight, we are almost through our jam packed week of events. Now back to those who wish to totally embrace the holidays. If you are over 55 and the idea of listening to an Athens Rock Band at 11pm at night is not your idea of a fun night, no fear these next events were selected by our gatekeepers with you in mind... First up for our over 55 crowd is a beautiful Christmas music event hosted by Wesleyan College. This annual concert will feature all your favorite seasonal music featuring the smooth vocal performance of the Wesleyannes.

Happening on Sunday afternoon at 3 pm you should be home in time to have an early dinner and not miss a wink of sleep.

Light Up The Mound

Another holiday mood setting event is planned for this Saturday evening at the Ocmulgee national monument at 7pm. This will be the first time the ONM will have a winter time latern walk to the grand mound. This is sure to be a Kodak moment so be sure to bring your camera. The weather is not looking to promising at this point so be sure to call ahead in case of rain.

So what do you think of the first weekend in December in Macon? Not too shabby a list of things to do for a town many people think has nothing going on worth getting up for.
