The Boys and Girls Club of Central Georgia is hosting their first Youth of the Year Celebration and Hall of Fame induction on Thursday, February 9th at 6:30pm, at the Anderson Conference Center. The event will also honor Maconites Bobby Pope and Zelma Redding into The Boys and Girls Club Hall of Fame. Special Celebrity Guests Bill Curry and Gregory Alan Williams will be in attendance.
Ms. Redding and Mr. Pope will be recognized for their contribution to the Boys & Girls Club, and commitment to the youth of Central Georgia. The Boys & Girls Club 2017 Youth of the Year winner will be announced at the event and receive a scholarship and will go on to compete in the Georgia state-wide competition.
The Youth of the Year has been Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s premier recognition program, celebrating the extraordinary achievements of Club teens. Youth of the Year embody the values of leadership service; academic excellence; and healthy lifestyles. They exemplify the critical impact that Boys & Girls Clubs have on the lives of young people.
Since 1938, the Boys and Girls Club of Central Georgia strives to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. They are dedicated to providing a safe, positive place and having a significant impact on their lives.
Tickets are $50, and proceeds for the event benefit afterschool programming and summer camp for Central Georgia’s youth. For information about tickets or sponsorship opportunities, visit their website: www.bgccg.org.
