Deadline Extended For Baseball Team Name Suggestions
Macon-Bibb’s new Coastal Plain League team has extended the deadline to submit name suggestions to accommodate the volume of ideas local fans have submitted. The team originally set today, Monday, July 31, as the deadline to submit names but has extended the deadline by 48 hours to continue to solicit suggestions.
“The initial response has been tremendous,” said team president Todd Pund. “We’ve had more than 1,000 suggestions already with some great ideas. We wanted to make sure everyone had a chance to give us their ideas so we’ve extended it until Wednesday, August 2, at 5pm.”
After Wednesday, the team will narrow down the suggestions to five favorites and post them on www.maconbaseball2018.com to get fan feedback and begin working on various logo ideas.
“Our intent is to narrow it down pretty quickly based on the logo ideas our designer can develop,” said co-owner Steve DeLay. “The logo and identity are critically important for the team’s success. We want to develop something everyone in the community will be proud to wear. We’re shooting for a late September release.”
Macon-Bibb’s Coastal Plain League team is scheduled to begin play in June 2018 at historic Luther Williams Field, which will undergo a $2.5M renovation to add new concessions, improved locker rooms and additional seating options. In the coming weeks, the team will have announcements on stadium renovations and ticket packages going on sale.
