Pre-Release Screening of "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" Being Auctioned Off

While Christmas is only 25 days away, Layaway Santa has already kicked off its fundraising efforts here in Middle Georgia and for the next three weeks, the group will be collecting donations to pay off local layaway items.  The goal for 2017 is $6,000.00

What started out as a last minute effort to pay off some layaway accounts for needy families in 2013 has grown into a grassroots movement of volunteers and donors who change the lives of families during the holiday season across Middle Georgia.  In their first four years, the group has raised more than $15,000 and helped more than 70 families put presents under the Christmas tree.  Layaway Santa, now in its 5th year, collects donations via GoFundMe to help put Christmas gifts under the tree for children while relieving financial stress for families in need.  Now, many local businesses have joined in the efforts to help create some holiday magic for families across Macon.

Thanks to AmStar of Macon, one of the 10 local businesses participating this year, you can bid on a private, VIP showing of "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" before the its released to the public in your very own private 100-seat theater.  AmStar of Macon has reserved a 100-seat auditorium for a private screening of “The Last Jedi”  for December 14th at 7:00 pm and Layaway Santa is auctioning off the whole auditorium, and 100% of the proceeds will go towards paying off layaways for Middle Georgia Families.

The bidding has started at  $1,100 and the auction ends December 12th.  Interested bidders can click HERE to place their bid.

Amstar of Macon joins 12 other local businesses that are finding ways to help buy Christmas gifts and toys for children.  The Macon Mayhem will donate a portion of ticket sales from its December 15th game to Layaway Santa, and the Centreplex will donate a portion of sales from a specialty drink and shot, both of which will be on sale at every Mayhem home game until December 22.  Joe D's on Ingleside, Village Marketplace, Biscuits, Burgers & More, Travis Jean and Ortho Georgia have put out donation jars for people to drop off cash donations and restaurants such as Waffle House, Parish on Cherry Street and Fatty's Pizza will donate a portion of their sales from these shifts or other sales to Layaway Santa.

Donations for Layaway Santa will be collected through December 23rd.
