Macon Mogul Challenge Announces 50K Prize Package

Macon MogulMACON, GA (09/08/2011) - Are you the next Macon Mogul?  The Macon Gateway Initiative is not looking for an apprentice.  One aspiring entrepreneur will get a $50,000 bonus just for minding their own business!  The successful candidate must have a winning attitude, an innovative idea, and a strong desire to prosper in historic downtown Macon.  Enterprising individuals are encouraged to submit their résumés and creative business concepts to win the Macon Mogul challenge and a $50,000 prize package featuring free rent and professional services for one year!

The Macon Mogul challenge is a project of The Gateway Initiative.  The objective of the business competition is to draw attention to the wealth of opportunity that Macon provides for aspiring entrepreneurs and visionary creative professionals.  In response to the influx of commercial and residential opportunities in downtown Macon, an extensive inventory of hot properties are available for new retail, gallery, loft, high tech offices, and entertainment ventures.  Macon’s rich cultural heritage and central location provide a great foundation for the development of a variety of businesses, ranging from small niche boutiques to innovative, green start-ups.

The Macon Mogul challenge will encourage small business ventures in the Downtown area, foster the development of successful business concepts, and provide support through the critical first year in the form of a business startup prize package valued at over $50,000.  The selected entrepreneur with the winning business plan will receive products and services that facilitate the growth and sustainment of a new venture.  The Macon Mogul business competition is open to any entrepreneur 21 years of age or older.

The Macon Mogul challenge $50,000 prize package includes one free year rental of office/retail space in downtown Macon, one year of complimentary internet and phone services, Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce membership, a grand opening event, mentorship by a local business executive, business startup legal services, one year of professional accounting services, logo and corporate identity package, free media advertising schedules, free marketing research conducted by a local college, and coverage in Georgia Trend magazine’s Macon-Bibb County issue.  In addition to the grand prize, all entrants with promising business plans will be assisted in their efforts to secure funding sources for their business concepts in downtown Macon.

Macon Mogul entrants must submit a completed application form, an executive summary of the business concept, and a personal résumé.  Entries will be reviewed by Macon Mogul jurors, a select group of local entrepreneurs and industry leaders.  The top business concepts will be selected and asked to prepare a detailed business plan.  The field will be narrowed again, and the finalists will present their concepts to a panel of jurors in an open forum to area residents and potential investors.  The entrepreneur with the winning business plan will be formally announced after the judges’ final deliberation at the conclusion of the presentations.  For complete details and applications, log on to www.maconmogul.com.
