Mayor Reichert Announces 2013 Strategic Plan

(Macon, GA) Macon Mayor Robert Reichert concluded his four weeks of State of the City updates with a press conference at City Hall on Wednesday, January 30. During that time, he reviewed previous updates provided to the public and discuss the priorities and projects for his office and the City as we move toward a new, consolidated Macon-Bibb County.

“Though we are working through the process of consolidating – and I know this will have a positive and long-term impact on our community – there are still many projects which need to be begun or completed in the next year,” says Mayor Reichert. “We must continue to provide services to the public, complete strategic projects that will improve our community, and provide a seamless transition to the new Macon-Bibb County.”

During the past few weeks, the Mayor has addressed the increasing fiscal stability of the City as evidenced by the annual audit, discussed recent economic developments and steps to keep that momentum going, and reviewed a year of SPLOST projects and priorities for the next year.

“We have made great strides in Macon the past few years, but our work is not yet completed,” he adds. “If we truly want to see Macon continue to grow and become a transportation, logistics, and cultural hub for Middle Georgia, the state, and the Southeast, we must build upon our recent progress and continue the work already begun.”
