Macon Mogul Winners TailsSpin Named Georgia Small Business Persons of the Year 2013, 1st Runner-Up
(MACON, GA - 05/17/2013) The U.S. Small Business Administration Georgia District Office has chosen Jeffrey Manley and Jusak Yang Bernhard, owners of TailsSpin in Macon, Savannah, and Pooler, Georgia, as the Georgia Small Business Person of the Year 2013, 1st Runner-Up. “Being named the Small Business Person of the Year exemplifies Jeff and Jusak’s business acumen, hard work, and innovative ideas,” said Terri Denision, District Director. “Each year we sponsor this awards program to honor and recognize the achievement, spirit and commitment of Georgia’s small business community.”
This same innovative vision, staying power, business acumen, and tireless commitment to community led TailsSpin to be selected as the winners of the Gateway Macon Initiative’s Macon Mogul challenge in 2012. This resulted in the opening of TailsSpin’s store at 570 Mulberry Street in Macon. TailsSpin has recently been recognized by and has garnered accolades from a number of other notable organizations.

Every year since 1963, the President of the United States has issued a proclamation announcing National Small Business Week, which recognizes the critical contributions of America’s entrepreneurs and small business owners. TailsSpin has also just been named 2013 Best Pet Store by the Macon Telegraph, as well as 2013 Best Pet Store and Best Pet Boutique by Connect Savannah magazine. Last year, TailsSpin garnered the 2012-2013 Outstanding General Pet Store by Pet Product News International as well. Further international recognition has come from Global Pet Expo and Pet Business Magazine with awards this year recognizing TailsSpin for Marketing Excellence in 2013. TailsSpin is a retail pet supply business and opened its first location in the Historic District of Savannah, Georgia in October 2007, with only 800 square feet of retail space and one employee. Today the business has grown to three locations; Savannah, Pooler and Macon, with combined retail space of over 8,000 square feet and 24 employees. TailsSpin offers their customers quality natural pet foods, a wide selection of pet accessories and top-notch customer service.
In addition, TailsSpin offers low-cost vaccine clinics each month at each of their three locations. As anticipated by the Macon Mogul contest’s panel of judges, Manley and Bernhard have very quickly proven themselves to be active supporters in the Macon pet welfare community. Their recent involvement has included sponsorship of the Community Health Works Farm-to-Table event, and ongoing sponsorship of the Mulberry Street Market in downtown Macon.
