Music Matters, Especially in Macon
I’ve always had a love and affinity for music. I started as a child at the age of 4 – when my older brother received a drum set for his 10th birthday – and ended up pursuing a full-time career as a drummer/percussionist and producer. Over the years as I’ve traveled to multiple countries, countless cities and far-off places, music has become entrenched in every aspect of my life.
Living in a music town like Macon is inspiring. Macon has produced some of the world’s most iconic artists. When Matt Catingub and I decided to start Macon Pops, we envisioned a fresh, new musical group that would bring an unparalleled approach to music that the city had never seen. Every concert has allowed us to expand our repertoire, showcase local talented musicians and artists, and create a sense of community.
As we begin our sixth season, Matt and I are excited to bring a classic favorite to Macon: Country Music. We have covered so many genres over our past six seasons and this is a genre we haven’t performed yet. With our fabulous local talent (Maggie Renfroe and Josh Carson), we thought the timing is perfect to kick off our 6th season with country! I have had the pleasure of working with both Maggie and Josh on a couple of benefit concerts. They are extremely talented and passionate artists. Maggie is featured on our upcoming Christmas recording that is part of the Christmas Light Show Extravaganza.
If you haven’t attended one of our concerts yet, buy a ticket, bring the kids, the grandparents, friends and anyone that enjoys music. Our concerts appeal to every generation and country music reaches so many generations from old country lovers to new country lovers.
Our concert is on Friday, August 24th at 7:30 p.m. at Mercer’s Hawkins Arena. You can purchase tickets at https://maconpops.com/concerts-tickets/
