Metropolis Curry & Kabob
Walking into Metropolis Curry & Kabob is like walking into the home of an old friend who you have not seen in a while. Just like with old friends, you are always met at the door of Metropolis restaurant with a welcoming word and a heartfelt handshake (or hug depending on your preference) from the owners upon entering. Of course, all the congeniality in world cannot stack up to a finely cooked meal. Metropolis never disappoints in its varied menu providing a mixture of Indian cuisine and Greek favorites that offer endless combinations for many repeat visits to come. The entire back story of how the management decided to mashup two regional cuisines that are over 4,000 miles apart has never been fully explained, but the outcome is so delicious who cares how it happened.
On the India side of the menu the Nann bread is simply fantastic along with the house special tandoori chicken and the seafood vindaloo is another sure hit favorite. The owners take care in asking for your preference of the degree of spiciness and often temp you to try something different on the menu. Never having been to India personally, I cannot attest to the authenticity of the cuisine, but based on other reviews posted on online it seems the purists are plenty satisfied. Over in the Mediterranean Sea side of the menu, you can’t go wrong with the Kabobs and the chicken kabob is by far the most exceptionally tastiest of the options. When the day comes for Gateway Macon to do a Top 5 List for the Best Humus in Macon you can bet Metropolis restaurant will be at the top of the list. The perfect marriage of Indian and Greek dishes is the Feta Nann, which takes two staples from both cultures and blends them into one awesome appetizer.
So go visit your long lost friends at Metropolis and experience for yourself the warm welcoming atmosphere and the curious collision of two cultures ameliorating into one pallet pleasing dinning adventure.
