Ninja Japanese Steakhouse and Sushi
A trip to Ninja for dinner is an almost weekly occurrence for me. Like its name, ninja lays hidden in a alley, ready to surprise you. It’s never too crowded and is the perfect “ no one feels like cooking but not in the mood for fast food” kind of place.
I love their house soup; it’s just the perfect thing on those wintry days. Not overly salted and just perfectly warm so that it warms you all the way through, but not so hot that you scald yourself. They have a wide variety of sushi rolls, including all the stand-bys with Nigiri options as well .
My favorite is always the Philadelphia, but a friend introduced me to the volcano rolls which is kind of a spicy crab and cream cheese roll. It’s big enough to eat twice too! My fiancée always gets the hibachi vegetable plate, which is both reasonably healthy and reasonably priced. We always get extra steamed rice tp share and drench it in the “yum yum” pink sauce, but hey maybe you’re classier than us. I highly recommend their mixed drinks, they have rotating specials that are always whimsical, tasty, and creative. Ninja is a place that makes regulars, try it- it just might surprise you.
Disclaimer: I have never been during lunch, so I can’t speak as to how they perform during the downtown lunchtime rush.
Here is a comment from one of our Facebook followers about Ninja lunch: Gary Faiss says: Well, I can say that Ninja's lunches are probably the best kept secret downtown. The "lunch boxes" are incredible and include soup, salad, protein, rice, teriyaki noodles, and nicely sliced fresh orange. Service is always fast and efficient. There is no better deal in Macon for under $10. Call ahead and it will be ready for taking back to the office.
