Downtown's Market City Cafe Closed - Relocation Imminent
DOWNTOWN MACON'S MARKET CITY CAFE CLOSES
Market City Cafe, the downtown eatery that has anchored the corner Third and Cherry Streets for over 8 years, closed its doors for business this week and moved out of its downtown location.
But don't expect this to be the end of those colossal cakes and scrumptious sandwiches from Market City Cafe. Cafe owners, Don Bivings and Pino Mauro of Market City Cafe aren't throwing in the towel when it comes to this downtown dining staple; a sign located in the storefront promises a reopening at a new, unnamed location soon.
Downtown Macon's corner of Cherry and Third streets have and always be essential to downtown. Aubrey Newby, who oversees the Newberry Building as well as 8 other downtown properties for Damaste Real Estate told the Macon Telegraph Friday "The Newberry building will continue to be a vital part of downtown. We'll be meeting with prospective tenants next week." Newby also told the Macon Telegraph "The fact that there's already been an interest in this space shows that people still have a great belief of what's happening downtown."
Gateway Macon will continue to follow this story and will bring you updated information as it becomes available.
