1. White Diamond Grill and Barbecue
497 GA Hwy 247, Bonaire, GA
“Definitely local southern experience. This is the kind of restaurant that you visit for the food, not the fancy setting. The menu features various barbecue options (beef, ribs, pork) along with typical local sides (fries, onion rings, deep-fried pickles, etc.). We enjoyed pork barbecue sandwiches but decided the highlight of the meal was the fried catfish, which is offered on some days. The fried sides were good: golden brown but not too greasy or heavy. The service staff are friendly and helpful. We arrived at noon and found the dining room very crowded. An hour later when we left, things were much quieter. We were told that workers at the military base nearby all eat between 11:30a and 1p. If you can, time your visit to miss that big rush. We'd go a long way to enjoy this authentic southern eatery again."
2. Saint Cotton Southern Fried Chicken
2146 Pio Nono Ave, Macon, GA
"Best fried pork chop I've ever had anywhere, and probably the best collards I've had anywhere. Not much to look at but if that doesn't bother you I highly recommend this for southern soul food. Fried and baked chicken are also excellent, and the peach cobbler is outstanding. I've never had the breakfast but I bet it's good."
3. Moon's wing & Seafood
198 Gray Highway - Macon
Hot wings, lemon pepper wings, this place has the best wings on the south side of town. Large wings with hot sauce that clings to the meat. The combos come with a huge heap of carrot and celery sticks, your choice of dressing, and a beverage. They also have the usual other foods such as salads, chicken teriyaki with fried rice; grilled and fried fish platters, hot subs, gyros and chicken tenders. Moon’s is truly a diverse restaurant experience. Moon's Wing & Seafood has 3 locations to serve you: Gray Highway, Mercer University and Eisenhower Parkway.
4. Golden Pantry
204 E Hancock St, Milledgeville, GA
"By far the best gas station in Milledgeville. Late nights at the golden pantry are far beyond amazing."
“I was far to uppity about the Golden Pantry for WAY to long. It’s an institution that must be experienced!” Gatewaymacon.com Gatekeeper
5. 2 Guys & A Pie Pizzeria
402 GA HWY 247 S, Bonaire, GA
“Excellent pizza place! I have eaten here a few times and the pizza is always excellent. The portions are large, the foot is hot, and the taste is great. Has a lot of tv's to watch sports and the service was great. Recommend the spicy chicken pizza!"
