Gatekeeper's Top Picks
Top Pick for Allman Brothers
September 25, 2015
Presented by the Allman Brothers Band Association
Since the early 90's, Allman Brothers fans have united in Macon to celebrate their favorite band during GABBAfest. They all hang out, hear great live music, buy and sell collector's items and memorabilia, visit the Big House, Rose Hill Cemetery, and just generally drink in the vibes of the place where the ABB lived and played their early years. Fans travel from as far as Finland to hear the outstanding bands, participate in jams, plant trees, and generally bask in the brotherly shadow of the Allman Brothers Band. GABBAfest holds something for everyone and this year will be no exception.
Friday September 25th features Lamar Williams, Jr., son of the late Allman Brothers bass player Lamar Williams. Dirty Uncle Bob from Statesboro, Georgia opens. The Georgia Songbird E.G. Kight, 2015 nominee for the Koko Taylor award by the Blues Foundation, is set to drop in for a special guest appearance with Dirty Uncle Bob.
Saturday September 26th will include the headlining concert from Jai Johanny Johanson, founding member of the Allman Brothers Band, and Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award recipient. Jaimoe's Jazz band will be live at the Douglas Theater along with Steve Moretti and the Mercer University Center for Strings.
