A Concert For Macy
at Cox Capitol Theatre July 9th
Downtown Macon, Georgia -A Concert For Macy will be brought to the Cox Capitol Theatre by Friends of The Macy Easom Cancer Research Foundation on Saturday, July 9th at 7PM. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased online at the following website www.PrincessMacy.org .
The concert will feature Abel & Rawls , Diane Durrett and The Garrett Collins Project (winner of the 2015 Music4Macy Singer-Songwriter Contest). Also included, are our finalists from Music4Macy, David Muschell, Rachel Grubb and Anna Howell and maybe a few other special guests!
This concert marks the official kickoff for our 2016 Music4Macy Singer-Songwriter Contest and gives our 2015 finalists an opportunity to play their music without the pressure of competition. All proceeds benefit The Macy Easom Cancer Research Foundation and our efforts to find better treatments for and ultimately cure childhood cancer in our lifetime!
The Macy Easom Cancer Research Foundation was founded in March 2012 in loving memory of Macy Easom, a four-year-old girl diagnosed with hepatoblastoma, a pediatric cancer of the liver, who passed away at the age of five.
Out of the top 10 causes of childhood cancer mortality, hepatoblastoma is the least researched. Only a few research laboratories exist, and prior to MECRF, none were located in the United States.
With the goal of finding a cure for hepatoblastoma and other pediatric cancers, Macy’s family formed the foundation and partnered with two world-renowned doctors, Stefano Cairo, Ph.D., human geneticist and Charles Keller, M.D., board-certified pediatric oncologist and brought hepatoblastoma research to America.
As less than 4% of the National Cancer Institute's budget (your tax dollars at work) is directed to childhood cancers, the Foundation’s focus is to fund the research needed to increase the survival rate and quality of life of children diagnosed with pediatric cancer, as we continue to search for a cure.
