Homelessness in Macon: Education Series
January 23, 2018
Homelessness has recently been a hot topic in Macon. The staff at Daybreak continue to receive calls from people who want to help but don't know how, and they continue to encounter people who want a better understanding of what homelessness in Macon means. For these reasons, Daybreak is presenting an educational series entitled "Homelessness in Macon."
This three-part series will begin on January 23rd by identifying many of the issues that people face when living homeless. Daybreak will also introduce many of Daybreak's community partners like Macon Outreach and Loaves & Fishes and have them present the ways that they support people experiencing homelessness. They will continue on February 6th with a discussion by Charles Levesque, Executive Director of Depaul USA, about solutions that are used in other cities for supporting people who are homeless. The series culminates on February 22nd with the Greater Macon Sleepout, a Daybreak fundraiser that also allows people to show their solidarity with people who are homeless.
This event will be held at Daybreak from 5:30 - 6:30 PM, with refreshments provided and discussion encouraged. We hope that you will spread the word with your family and friends, and we look forward to seeing you here.
