Holiday Event not to miss: The Nutcracker

December 11, 2019

Middle Georgia Nutcracker
December 11-15, 2019
Grand Opera House

Dazzling costumes, spectacular backdrops and a wealth of exceptionally talented dancers have made Nutcracker of Middle Georgia a holiday tradition for more than 25 years. When the curtain rises at Macon’s historic 1884 Grand Opera House each December, every house is sold out as the magical story comes to life with dancing mice, Clara, and even the Rat King, ascending through the trap door once used by the Great Houdini himself. A select group of professional guest artists and an exceptionally high proportion of talented area children, Macon’s production of Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Ballet rivals that of any premier city ballet company.

When the party is over and her family has gone to bed, Clara sneaks back into the parlor to find her new toy. She is startled by mice scurrying around for crumbs, and after climbing onto the sofa, she falls asleep. Now, the magic begins...
