Top 5 Fried Fish

We asked you, what makes the best fish to fry?  As expected, our survey on the Top 5 Fried Fish in Macon was extremely popular. The votes were tallied, our Gatekeeper's sampled the finalists and here our the results.

1.  Jim shaw's Seafood Grill and Bar

Jim Shaw’s Seafood Restaurant was started by Skipper Zimmerman in 1987 and named after his grandfather and son. Since then,  Jim Shaw’s Seafood Restaurant Grill and Bar has served many happy customers fresh seafood and libations in Middle Georgia. Recently voted as “Best Seafood in Macon GA,” the restaurant has and still serves consistently great seafood at affordable prices.

2.  falls view Restaurant

With the encouragement of friends and potential customers, Falls View Restaurant was built and opened December 18, 1969 by John H. Wilson and his brother-in-law, John W. Hall. That night, the first catfish dinner was served to the public at the unbelievable price of $1.69... "All you can eat!"

Falls View is located in Jackson near High Falls 

3.  fish and pig

John S. McCord, owner of Satterfield's Restaurant and Catering, and Skipper Zimmerman, owner of Jim Shaw's Seafood Restaurant, joined forces and opened the Fish N' Pig in October of 2005. The name says it all - fresh seafood and hickory smoked BBQ products are the specialty.

4.  kudzu seafood

Located in beautiful downtown Macon, Kudzu Seafood Company brings the best of Southern Coastal Seafood to Middle Georgia.

Enjoy lunch at their convenient Dannenberg Lofts location, or have it delivered anywhere within downtown. Kudzu Seafood's menu features a delicious selection of classic Po Boys, fried shrimp and fish, oysters, and specials that change daily.

5.  steve's steak and seafood

Almost anything you can put in a deep-fryer, you can find at Steve's.  Steve's Steak and Seafood serves mouth-watering seafood delights. A must try here is Catfish preparations. If you are going with a large group, go for its heavenly seafood platter.
