10, 9, 8, 7….you know the rest! Georgia has NYC beat when it comes to New Year’s Eve Ball Drops. Why drop a ball when you can drop a shamrock, blossoms, and more. Check out our Top 5 Georgia New Years Eve ball drops.
1. THE BUZZARD DROP in Perry, Ga.
We had to crown a new Number 1 this year with the sad news that our local ball drop-the Cherry Blossom will not be come off the ground this year. But the town that brings us the Georgia National Fair knows how to throw a party- so our number one local ball drop goes to this quirky bird. The story of the buzzard is a funny one- it seems that every year hundreds of Buzzards descend upon Perry in some kind of annual migration. Perry has chosen to embrace their odd annual visitors and celebrate the fact that buzzards really dig Perry by having the new year kicked off with the buzzard drop!
