The breathtaking beauty of the Palace of the South makes every bride dream of the perfect wedding day.  In addition to regular tours and special events at this historic home, Hay House is also available for event rental, including weddings, receptions, banquets and other occasions.  Thanks to the new climate control system, Hay House is now offering year round rentals!  Thanks right, you can even have your special day at the house during the summer months.

2.  Blacksmith Shop

The Blacksmith shop is a perfect venue for any bride who yearns for a tucked away piece of history right in the heart of downtown. The facility first functioned as a blacksmith shop and carriage garage. The wide doors, high ceilings and brickwork set a romantic tone for any wedding or reception. Brides can choose to take advantage of the landscaped courtyard for their ceremony or one of the indoor rooms. We recommend the blacksmith shop as a reception venue for the bride who just said “I do” at one of downtown's gorgeous churches.

The facility consists of the Grand Library Ballroom, Reception Room, the downstairs foyer, lavish bathrooms, and a warming kitchen. It offers a warm and inviting atmosphere with original hardwood flooring, richly stained wood accents, and a 40 foot wooden cathedral ceiling in the ballroom. Cherry wood furnishings encase a full sound system for the ballroom and Apple TV for the 50" plasma TV in the reception room. The building is now handicap accessible with our newly installed elevator and can accommodate 200 or more guests, making it perfect for any reason to get together with friends and family!

4.  Terminal Station

The Terminal Station was originally constructed in 1916 to be the union station of all 15 railroads operating in Macon at the time. More than 100 arrivals a day were handled through the Macon Terminal during the 1920s and 1930s – the heyday of passenger rail.  The beautifully restored 14,000 square foot lobby features original marble, gilt molding, and wooden benches. The Terminal Station is a truly unique venue and provides a beautiful setting for weddings & wedding receptions, band parties, fundraisers and any other special gathering.

5.  Georgia Sports Hall of Fame

Located in beautiful downtown Macon, the GSHOF is the country’s largest state sports museum.  From old style ticket booths to the Hall of Fame corridor that honors over 300 inductees, the museum boasts 43,000 sq.ft. of exhibit space with 3000 artifacts.  The GSHOF’s recently renovated Georgian Room offers 1500 sq.ft. of venue space for wedding parties, while allowing guests to enjoy Georgia’s sports history during their special day.
